Sketch#1: For this sketch I wanted to keep a primary photo, but distort it’s contents and incorporate geometric shapes. To plot out the lines for the shapes, I followed that natural lines of my dogs face and coloring. My inspiration for this sketch is the piece below by Tommervik.
Sketch #2: For this sketch, I wanted to stick to geometric shapes. The piece below inspired me as I really liked the idea of forming an image through shapes and colors. If I chose this sketch for my final project, I’d love to add texture to the mix as well.
Sketch #3: For this sketch I was inspired by Laurdes Delgados piece below. I loved the variety of sizes and expressions and wanted to give it a shot with my dog.
Sketch #4 & 5: Both of these sketches were inspired by the piece below. I think this style of cubism can be used in so many different ways. What I like about this style is the feeling of each piece being like an abstract puzzle. Everything doesn’t have to fit perfectly, and that gives the artist freedom to explore all sorts of “what ifs”.
I chose this color palette for all of my sketches, as I think the muted colors compliment each other well and will bring an earthy feel to my final project.
