In 2019, it’s not hard to find an app that will make a gif in a matter of seconds. Did you know that originally gifs were primarily only made via photoshop? When I was first introduced to photoshop it was for this reason. I remember countless nights of splitting a video frame by frame and going back and forth between the settings to make sure it wasn’t too large of a file. We’ve heard it all before- “people only post what they want people to see”. In some cases, this includes versions of one’s self that is far different from what the raw image captured. There are plenty of opinions on people altering their instagram photos to make them thinner, have less acne, a smaller nose, bigger lips, etc. If you look through a celebrity’s page who clearly photoshopped a photo, it’s almost guaranteed that their comments section will be filled with hateful messages. My opinion on this is that everyone should have a right to represent themselves in whatever way they feel fit. Even raw photos are not exact. If a photo is shot with a wide angle lens, the same photo will look entirely different than one shot with a 55mm. It is unlikely there will be a device created in the near future that genuinely represents how someone looks exactly. In fact, we likely look different to each person we meet based on the height of where they’re viewing us from, their eyesight, their culture, and everything else that forms our thoughts and opinions.

I love Bram’s photoshop style. He generally creates work where the person in focus is in black and white, and their clothing or accessories are colored. His use of posterizing really draws in the viewer and makes the piece look both cartoonish and realistic at the same time. I think the two techniques together create beautiful, stylish pieces.

The saying goes “do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life”. As someone who has worked jobs that aren’t necessarily my “passion”, I found it interesting how many jobs have been created thanks to the invention of photoshop. I remember as a kid interested in art, people would say “that’s great, but what are you going to do for a real job?” The idea of someone being a successful artist without fame seemed like a foreign idea. I was pleasantly surprised by a quick google search just how many jobs are out there seeking photoshop experience. From freelance artists to commercial companies, opportunities to make photoshop your job are plentiful.

I think many people can agree that if they were to save one thing from a burning building, it would be something of sentimental value. “When Hurricane Harvey tore into Texas late last summer, it devastated homes, communities and lives. But what it did to victims’ cherished mementos might have been overlooked in the initial heavy lifting and recovery effort. ” It is a horrible thought, to lose photos of loved ones who have passed or memories that were once in a lifetime. It’s amazing that photoshop gives people an opportunity to restore those photos that had been destroyed for whatever reason.

I came across Alberto as I was searching “photoshop artists” and he is truly talented in his craft. I love how he combines pastels with neon colors into his work. I really enjoy portraits in general, and Alberto transforms a beautiful portrait into a beautiful work of art.
